On a typical Tuesday, both courses followed their regular class schedules. In 375, we proceeded with our usual routine of watching the assigned video, engaging in the lecture video, having a class discussion, and allocating some time for students to work on their homework. Additionally, we incorporated another class activity that involved collaboration among students and sharing their findings with the rest of the class. These activities have proven to be enjoyable for the students, as they provide opportunities for teamwork and collective learning experiences.
In 370, we began the class by addressing the topic of switching practicum supervisors after the upcoming fall break. While most students opted to stick with their current supervisors, a few expressed interest in making a change. We made note of these requests to see what adjustments could be made to accommodate their preferences. During the session, Dr. Tiell focused on goal setting. For the in-class activity, we took a more traditional approach, having students utilize pen and paper to work on their goal-related tasks. This activity is an integral part of their playbook, so it is crucial for them to complete it without any issues before submission.
Towards the end of class, while checking the attendance records, we noticed a discrepancy. One student had signed in but was not present in class. Dr. Tiell personally reached out to the student to inquire about the situation. The student acknowledged not attending class, and Dr. Tiell informed them that points would be deducted as a consequence. After handling the situation, we collectively decided that maintaining attendance records in a more conventional manner by not having students sign in any longer would be implemented moving forward to ensure accurate attendance tracking.
