The second class offered a sense of familiarity despite the remaining nerves. I was ready to assist Dr. Tiell in facilitating an enjoyable and interesting class experience because it was the first session where we really dug into the course topics. I arrived early to make sure all the relevant materials were set up and ready because I understood how important organization was for the session's smooth flow.
In SMG 375 we wasted no time and immediately immersed the students in an interactive activity—a survey about themselves—to break the ice and provide them with an easy opportunity to earn some points. Following this, we introduced their first worksheet assignment, meticulously outlining the sections and clarifying the expectations. To enhance the lecture experience, we supplemented Dr. Tiell's pre-recorded lecture with additional details and insights when needed. After thoroughly reviewing the chapter materials, we allocated time for the students to start working on their worksheets, fostering an environment conducive to their independent learning.
Transitioning to our second course of the day, SMG 370, we hit the ground running. Taking attendance became more streamlined as we implemented a sign-in process, enabling Dr. Tiell and myself to efficiently track student attendance. During this session, we provided the students with further explanation and guidance on their practicum assignments, ensuring their clarity on the expectations. We also dedicated time to review different materials related to their transition playbook, which constituted their most significant assignment for the semester. Additionally, we had our first Ten Minute Tuesday session, despite it being held on a Thursday. Our guest speaker, Hayley Coppola from TickPick, shared her insights and expertise, further enriching the students' learning experience.
