Week 5 has arrived, and it's astonishing how quickly time is passing. With fall break just a few weeks away, the 375 course is approaching the deadline for their debate papers. Dr. Tiell and I have been diligently emphasizing the importance of starting early and ensuring that students have gathered their references. Today, we began by checking that all students had obtained their references and made progress on their paper introductions. This served as the first task of the day, setting a productive tone for the class.
Following this check, we proceeded with our regular routine, starting with watching the provided video and then moving on to the lecture video. To promote active engagement and encourage discussion, we introduced a small group activity. Each group was assigned a specific country and tasked with conducting research on its sports federation. The groups were then responsible for presenting their findings to the class, fostering peer-to-peer learning and interaction. As the class drew to a close, we allocated some time for students to work on their upcoming worksheet 2, ensuring they had the opportunity to make progress and clarify any questions they might have had.
In the 370 course, we began by addressing the fact that the playbook grades were up to date, providing students with the reassurance that their progress was being tracked and evaluated. Additionally, we reminded them to continue working on their practicum journals, as they would be due in a few weeks. Following our regular routine of watching videos and engaging in the lecture, we welcomed a special guest, Joe Lofton from the Steelers, who also happens to be a Tiffin alumnus, for our Ten Minute Tuesday session. However, this week presented a challenge when we discovered that one student had not been attending their assigned practicum. Dr. Tiell handled the conversation, addressing the issue and finding a solution. Ultimately, the student was able to make up the missed hours by working at the Hem building desk.
