Week two - Day 6

As I enter the second week of the semester, a sense of familiarity begins to settle in, yet the nervousness still lingers. Dr. Tiell has once again shared the lesson plans with me, ensuring that I am well-prepared for the upcoming classes. I take the time to review the materials, making sure everything is ready to go.

In SMG 375, we kick off the class with a quick review of chapter one. It serves as a refresher for the students, reinforcing the fundamental concepts we covered earlier. Afterwards, we provide them with dedicated time to complete the chapter one activities, allowing them to actively engage with the material. Additionally, we offer an example of the activities they will encounter in chapter two, giving them a sneak peek and the chance to get a head start.

One of the highlights of the session is the debate activity. We pair up the students, giving them approximately 30 minutes to conduct research and prepare their arguments. This hands-on exercise familiarizes them with the art of debating, a crucial skill they will need for their biggest assignment in the course. They later take the stage, presenting their findings and engaging in lively debates, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter and honing their persuasive abilities.

Meanwhile, in SMG 370, our focus is on explaining the practicum assignments, ensuring that the students have a clear understanding of their practical responsibilities. We take the time to address any questions or concerns they may have regarding the upcoming resume assignment, which is due later in the week. It is important to provide them with the necessary guidance and support as they embark on their practical endeavors.

To enrich the learning experience, we invite Dylan Saunders as our guest speaker for Ten Minute Tuesday. His expertise and insights contribute to the classroom discussion, providing real-world perspectives that complement the theoretical aspects of the course, and offering the students valuable industry knowledge.
